sound installation
Terry Dame [US]

supported by School of Visual Arts, NYC

Melting is an interactive sound installation and is part of the artist's “Sonified Geography” series exploring the dynamics of human habitation and its effects on the natural world using technology as a conduit. The work reflects the ephemeral and personal experiences we have when interacting with the natural world, highlighting often-overlooked auditory elements. Through its use of recycled materials, Melting speaks to current transformations of the earth's climate as a result of human actions. Repurposed CO2 canisters are hung like water droplets from recycled wire. Each interaction creates a unique sonic composition.
